Gout Foods – A Gout Diet To Cure Gout

Gout is a horribly painful condition that is caused by crystals of Uric Acid forming. It occurs mostly in the feet (in over 50% of cases), and one of the best ways of treating it is with a special gout diet where you eat foods that are thought of as gout foods, or at least gout friendly foods so that you can help to get rid of the problem.

When looking into which food to eat and which foods to avoid when suffering from gout, it is important to realise that prevention is often  as important as cure when it comes to gout, and that getting in tune with which gout foods will help you, and which will harm you is incredibly important.

Diets that are very high in protein sources like meat and shellfish have often come under close scrutiny with gout, because there seems to be a causal link between eating lots of shellfish and red meat and suffering from gout.

In fact, a study by a Dr Choi in 2004 found that those who at the greatest quantities of meat had an over 40% greater chance of suffering from gout, then those who in comparison ate the least amount.

The study focused in also on foods that contained high amounts of ‘purine’, and found that some of them like meat and beer were much more likely to cause gout then others.

Interestingly, the same causal link was not shown with some foods like cauliflower and beans, which are all high in prurines, so there may well be something else going on here that medical science has not yet picked up upon.

The bottom line though is that methods already exist to cure gout using gout foods that heal you rather then harm you.
